PTA Host Family Fun Movie Night, Saturday, Feb. 6, 2009 – G-FORCE! - The Fowler Community PTA invites you and your family to our third annual Family Fun Movie Night on Saturday, February 6th. We will show the movie G-Force in the Waldron cafeteria. Doors will open and concession sales will start at 6:30 p.m. with the movie beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission is FREE as this is not meant to be a fundraiser, just an affordable night of family fun. There will be door prizes and lots of fun! Those who wear their PJ’s will get a free popcorn! So bring a blanket/pillow and make yourself comfortable for the third annual Waldron Family Fun Movie Night! We hope to see you there! (All children must be accompanied by a parent/adult.)
6TH Grade Plan to Raise Funds for Ele’s Place - Coming soon, Mrs. Hoffman’s 6th grade class will hold a Valentine’s fundraiser called “Have A Heart for Ele’s Place.” Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to Ele’s Place facility in Lansing which helps kids cope with grief. The fundraiser will be held from February 8-11 and will consist of the 6th grade selling raffle tickets during lunch recess for .25 cents. The prizes raffled off include a Valentine’s teddy bear, cuddly monkeys and a box of Valentine’s candy. Those who purchase the first 50 tickets will also receive a free Valentine’s pencil, eraser or sticker! The winning ticket will be drawn the afternoon of February 11th. Thank you for supporting this “kids helping kids” worthy cause. Over the years, the 6th grade class at Waldron school has helped to raise thousands of dollars to support Ele’s Place.
PTA Sets Spring Carnival Date – Saturday, March 13, 2010 - Mark your calendar and get ready for the PTA Spring Carnival! The festivities will take place on Saturday, March 13th from 10am-1p.m. at Waldron School. This year’s carnival theme will feature a JUNGLE safari complete with fun and games galore! The carnival will include goodies, a cake walk, games, prizes, a moon walk, etc. Raffle tickets will be sold and some great prizes will be up for grabs! So don't MONKEY around...come check out the carnival on Saturday, March 13th. We hope to see you there!
Kindergarten Registration is Underway! - If you have a child who will be five years of age on or before December 1, 2010, now is the time topre-register them for kindergarten for the 2010-11 school year. Please contact the Waldron office at 593-2160 or via email wieberm@fowlerschools.net to pre-register your child. This information helps us to get preliminary numbers for next year’s class sizes. We will hold an informational meeting for parents in April. Thank you.

Middle School Play Coming Soon – Feb. 26th & 27th
The Waldron School Drama Club will soon be performing a play written and directed by Mrs. Bonnie Brown. It is a hilarious story based on comedy of the three stooges. There is lots of great slap stick comedy tricks, along with some hilarious misadventures and mishaps along the way! The play will be held on Friday, February 26th and Saturday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. at Waldron cafeteria. This family-friendly feature is sure to be a hit, so mark your calendar and we hope to see you there!
Fowler High School Recognizing Tom O’Rourke on Friday, February 5, 2010
We hope you can join us in honoring T.O. and his great coaching accomplishments. Past players of Coach O’Rourke’s girls basketball teams will be announced in between the girls and boys game beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m. Following the boys basketball game, refreshments will be provided in the Waldron cafeteria where a commemorative video will be shown in honor of Coach O’Rourke. New Immunization Requirements For KD Students and 6TH Grade Students
Beginning in the Fall of 2010, all 6th grade students (this year’s 5th grade) and new kindergarten students will have their shot records assessed. The state has mandated ADDITIONAL requirements that go along with the DPT, HEP-B, POLIO, MMR and Varicella vaccines that are already required for school age children. The additions are listed below:
KD Changes/Additions
· TWO doses of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or history of the disease
(in the past only one dose was required)
6th Grade Changes:
· TWO doses of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or history of the disease.
· ONE dose of the Meningococcal (MCV4 or MPSV4) vaccine
· ONE dose of the Tetanus/Diphtheria/Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine (if five years have passed since the last does of DTaP, Td or DT)
These shots are required by state law, however if you object to any of these vaccinations, there is a waiver form available in the Waldron office. Please feel free to call Marcy Wieber in the Waldron office with questions regarding these requirements or refer to the health department website at www.michigan.gov/immunize.
PTA Looking for Raffle Prize Donations- The PTA is beginning to work on our annual Spring Carnival. A big part of our carnival income comes from the raffle drawing which is held and the end of the event. All of the prizes that are raffled off are donated from area merchants, Waldron staff, and local families. If you would like to make a donation of a raffle prize, it would be very much appreciated. Please call the Waldron office at 593-2160 if you have an item you would like to donate. Items raffled off in the past have included things such as gifts cards, homemade crafts, clothing, hats, lotions, hair products, toys, school supplies, learning games, cash, etc. Feel free to drop items that you would like to donate off in the Waldron office or call and we can make arrangements for someone to pick it up. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. (PTA)
